A century of compassion: Catholic Charities celebrates 100 years in LA

Vol. 4 | No. 33 | October 4, 2019

Msgr. Gregory Cox, executive director of Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc., 17-year-old Mari, and Patricia Chaidez, executive director of Angel’s Flight, represent the core mission of the 100-year-old agency: to be the face of Christ to those most in need in Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara counties. On Page 10, R.W. Dellinger reports on what that mission looks like from the perspective of individuals who serve and are served by the agency. On Page 14, Cox reflects on how that mission is developing as LA becomes what he considers “the Ellis Island of the United States today.”
