On Wednesday, June 6, Archbishop José H. Gomez and Bishop-Elect Marc V. Trudeau, new auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, will celebrate a Solemn Vespers and Blessing of the Pontifical Insignia on the eve of the Ordination of the Bishop-elect, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.

The insignia of a bishop (ring, miter and staff) are outward signs of his identity as high priest. The ring symbolizes his fidelity and bond with the Church, while the miter and staff are signs of his authority.

Pope Francis named Bishop-Elect Trudeau from Los Angeles Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles on April 5, 2018.

Bishop-Elect Trudeau is a Hollywood-born former dentist who worked at Vons for more than a decade to put himself through school, he graduated twice from USC, and has survived cancer. To learn more about Bishop-Elect Trudeau, visit https://angelusnews.com/BishopElectTrudeau.

The Solemn Vespers and Blessing of the Pontifical Insignia will be streamed live at http://archla.org/live and https://www.facebook.com/olacathedral.

The Vespers is open to the public. All are invited to attend.
