The Bishop Amat Lancers came into Friday’s matchup against #2 seed JSerra as underdogs. They left victorious, and with a spot in the CIF-SS Pac-5 Semifinals.

Bishop Amat beat JSerra won 24-17.

Quarterback Ryder Ruiz continued his hot streak, throwing for 223 yards and 2 touchdowns. His first touchdown pass came on a crucial drive at the end of the first half. He led an 80 yard drive with under a minute to go, ending it with a 12 yard touchdown pass to Anthony Camargo with 8 seconds left on the clock. This touchdown tied the game at 10 apiece going into halftime.

Running back Torreanho Sweet led the running attack, finishing with 86 yards and a touchdown.

Next up. the Lancers take on Centennial (10-2 overall) on Friday, Nov. 28. Centennial is also coming off an upset of Mater Dei.

John Bosco cruises to victory

The John Bosco Braves, heavily favored in almost every game they play, defeated Norco by a score of 48-7.

Quarterback Josh Rosen was impressive yet again, tallying 284 yards and 2 scores. Wide receiver Joey Chenoweth benefited from Rosen’s performance, catching 6 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown.

Running back Sean McGrew rushed for his 24th touchdown of the season, tying the school record.

John Bosco will take on Long Beach Poly (11-1 overall) on Friday, Nov. 28. Long Beach Poly beat Crespi, 44-27, last week.

St. Francis drops first game, eliminated

A one-loss season is a great record. Unfortunately, that one loss came at a bad time for St. Francis.

Without quarterback Jeremiah Martin (out with a broken collarbone), the St. Francis Golden Knights fell to La Serna, 38-35.

It was a back and forth game, that saw a 17 point La Serna lead turn into a 4 point lead for St. Francis.

Backup quarterback Miles Bryant took over for St. Francis, and filled in quite nicely. He finished with 268 yards and 4 touchdowns, almost completing a comeback that would have sent the Golden Knights to the CIF-SS Southeast Division semifinals.

St. Francis had a great season, finishing with a record of 11-1 and the Angelus League title.
