On March 17, 2018 the Daily Mail published a story that is inaccurate and misleading regarding Sister Rita Callanan, IHM. A representative for Sister Rita has informed the Archdiocese of Los Angeles that she has requested a retraction of the story from the Daily Mail and the outlets that subsequently published the story.

The concern of the Archdiocese is and has always been the care and well-being of all of the IHM Sisters. The Archdiocese is caring for, and has pledged to always care for, all four of the remaining IHM Sisters for the rest of their lives.

In 2015, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles was forced to take legal action against developer Dana Hollister (not any of the Sisters) on behalf of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) Sisters to protect them from an illegal and invalid sale of their property.

Without proper approval, Dana Hollister took possession of their former convent in Los Feliz for just $44,000 and a contingent promissory note without any guarantee that the Sisters would ever receive any additional payment.

Hollister’s actions left the IHM Sisters with almost nothing for their property, while she improperly took possession of their former convent to prevent the sale of the property to singer Katy Perry who had presented a cash offer for $14.5 million dollars for the Waverly property and a replacement for the House of Prayer of Priests.
