Sister Simone Campbell, SSS, an advocate on social issues, will be the keynote speaker for a women’s symposium held by Ramona Convent Secondary School as part of their 125th Anniversary Celebration. The event is intended to honor and highlight the positive work of women in our society.

The symposium and breakfast will be held from 7-9 a.m. Jan. 29 at Ramona Convent in Alhambra.

A religious leader, attorney and poet, Sister Simone has been a major figure and advocate in debates over important national social issues like immigration reform and economic justice.

The symposium is one of a series of celebrations being held throughout the 2014-15 school year to observe Ramona Convent’s 125th anniversary. It is the oldest Catholic all-girls’ school in Los Angeles County still operating in its original location.

Founded in 1889 by the Sisters of the Holy Names, Ramona has graduated more than 7,300 young women. Ramona alumnae can be found in courtrooms, in business, at all levels of educational institutions and the offices of non-profit and community service organizations.

Tickets for the symposium are $35 and include breakfast. For more information about Ramona Convent Secondary School or the Symposium, go to: www.ramonaconvent.org.
