OneLife LA will return for its ninth year on Saturday, January 21, 2023.

This year’s theme, “Our Mission is Love,” continues the work of the pro-life movement after Roe v. Wade was overturned earlier this year. California remains a politically pro-choice state with the recent passage of Proposition 1, which added the right to abortion to the state constitution.

“OneLife LA is a movement of love and peace,” said Archbishop José H. Gomez in a promotional video for the 2023 event. “We are seeking to be the new way of life in our country.” He is scheduled to give the opening speech at La Placita, where the procession will begin.

Speakers at the rally in Los Angeles State Historic Park include Rick and Modesta Pulido, LA Catholics who work in the archdiocese’s mental health ministry, Chika Anyanwu, author and director of formation and events for Vagabond Ministries, and Lauren Costabile, Down syndrome advocate and founder of Hearts of Joy International.

Returning this year is Jess Echeverry, speaker and founder of SOFESA, an LA-based nonprofit that supports poor and homeless Southern Californians. Echeverry was the 2020 winner of the OneLife LA Service Award.
