On May 18, six students from Holy Family High School in Glendale received scholarships for academic and community excellence from the Glendale Latino Association. The scholarships were distributed at an awards breakfast that also honored 10 Glendale Community College students.

The guest speaker at the event was Holy Family alumnus Dr. Yvette Marquez M.D., ‘94. The first Latina neurosurgeon in Los Angeles, Dr. Marquez delivered an inspiring speech that stressed the importance of family and community in realizing one’s dreams.

The Glendale Latino Association awarded $17,000 in scholarships, with the generous support of Glendale Adventist Medical Center, Massage Envy, Dr. Manuel Momjian, MD, GCC Police Chief Gary Montecuollo and the Arturo Sandoval Institute.
