The Guadalupe Health Project welcomed its first two homeless women to its pilot women’s program at their Mission Road facility Dec. 3. The project hopes top take in as many as 15 women to stay from 30 to 90 days.

The project seeks to help the most vulnerable women through the permanent supportive housing outreach.

“The whole day (of final preparation) was exciting, followed by the first night with a sense of peace and tranquility,” according to Raquel Roman, the Guadalupe Health Project director. “For these long-term homeless women, taking a warm shower and sleeping in a new bed with a pillow all of a sudden became super sacred. It feels like the right thing to do, to help more people.”
