Background on SB 24
SB 24 would create a fund for UCs and CSUs to provide medical abortions in their student health centers. This bill would require all UC and CSU student health centers to use the additional funding to provide students with medical abortions on campus.
Last year, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles drew significant opposition to a similar bill SB 320. Although, the bill passed in both houses (Senate and Assembly) it was ultimately vetoed by Governor Jerry Brown. Today we are asking the Catholic community to join in a Statewide novena to oppose SB 24.
Novena to Stop Abortion Expansion in CA
The novena is set to start on August 3rd and conclude on August 11th.
Virgin of Guadalupe,
Mother of the Christ and Patroness of all unborn children, we implore your intercession for the defeat of Senate Bill 24 and for the protection of all human life.
Guide our public officials to see the tragedy and the injustice of abortion and to defend each and every human life through just laws. Inspire us all to bring our faith into public life, to speak for those who have no voice.
We ask this in the name of your son, Jesus Christ, who is Love and Mercy itself.
