Catholic high schools pace CIF-SS basketball rankings

Several Catholic high school boys and girls basketball teams in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles are atop their respective divisional polls in the California Interscholastic Federation-Southern Section rankings.

In boys basketball, Chaminade holds the top spot in Division 3AA, while Serra leads Division 4AA. Mater Dei and Santa Margarita, both in the Orange Diocese, top Divisions 1AA and 3AA.

Mater Dei and Loyola are also highly ranked nationally in two MaxPreps boys basketball polls, while the MaxPreps girls rankings find Mater Dei, Chaminade and Serra in the top 10. Girls CIF-SS division leaders include Serra (4AA) and Mater Dei (1AA).

Loyola and Cathedral are atop their respective divisions in boys soccer.
