Chayse Gomez of Rosary Academy in Fullerton shot a three-over-par 75 to tie for 12th place in the CIF State Golf Individual Championships, played Nov. 14 at Victoria Country Club in Riverside.

Trinity League champion Gomez was the only local Catholic school player who qualified for the state tournament, after posting a one-over-par 74 in the CIF Southern California individual finals held Nov. 8 at Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena. Gomez, a senior at Rosary, birdied the last three holes to tie for sixth and gain one of nine slots in the state tournament.

Mater Dei of Santa Ana placed fifth in the team event at Brookside with a score of 401, 23 strokes off the lead. Kexin Guan’s 77 led the Monarchs.
