In the chaos of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, parents are feeling the pressure: working from home, supervising distance learning, and keeping family faith alive.

“Homes have become the school and the church,” said Sister Angelie Marie Inoferio, principal of St. Elisabeth School in Van Nuys.

On Mother’s Day weekend, teachers and staff decided to give busy moms a break with a socially distanced celebration. The Daughters of Divine Zeal Sisters decorated an altar for the Blessed Mother in the school’s parking lot, and mothers and students were invited to participate in a drive-thru party.

The teachers made signs wishing moms a “Happy Mother’s Day!” and telling students how much they missed them, and passed out roses and treats.

And, as one final gift, the school canceled all distance learning classes that day.
