As wind-driven fires continue to burn through parts of Southern California, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and Catholic relief agencies are offering various resources and opportunities for people to support victims of the fires.
Below are some of the ways to help. The list will be updated as more assistance is available.
- The Archdiocese of Los Angeles has set up a donation portal to provide financial assistance to help victims with food, clothing, and other needs related to the fires. Donate or find other fire-related resources and information at lacatholics.org/california-fires. The Archdiocese is also keeping current a page of local donation drives and updates at lacatholics.org/parishes-and-schools-support-california-fire-victims/.
- Catholic Charities is taking donations to provide relief to families. Donate at catholiccharitiesusa.org.
- Loyola High School is opening its Caruso Hall to both offer aid such as food, showers, and resources, while also taking donations from donors, such as non-perishable food, clothes, hygiene products, blankets and more. The school is located at 1901 Venice Blvd., Los Angeles.
- Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Los Angeles (SVDPLA) is collecting and distributing food items, clothing, hygiene kits, and other resources. For information, call 888-552-7872. Line is monitored for messages throughout the day, callers in need of assistance will be referred to the closest parish conference.
- American Martyrs School is collecting donations of toiletries and hygiene products, new undergarments, snacks and non-perishable foods, and bottled waters. The school is located at 1701 Laurel Ave., Manhattan Beach.
- Mayfield Senior School will be open for donations Monday, Jan. 13, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Visit their Instagram (@mayfieldseniorschool) for a full list of items needed. The school is located at 500 Bellefontaine St., Pasadena.
- All Souls Church and World Language School is collecting donations from Monday, Jan. 13-Friday, Jan. 17, from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Visit their Instagram for details. Donations can be dropped off at 29 S. Electric Ave., Alhambra.
- St. Philip the Apostle Church is open from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. for those who have evacuated or lost their homes. Refreshments are available. Call the parish office at 626-793-0693. The church is located at 151 S. Hill Ave., Pasadena.
- Servite High School Red Cross Club is collecting donations before school and in the nurse’s office from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Monday, Jan.13, Tuesday, Jan. 14, and Wednesday, Jan. 15. - The Capuchin Family Food Truck is providing meals and essential supplies. They are collecting monetary donations and volunteer help at capuchinswest.org/firerelief.
- St. Anthony High School is collecting flashlights, batteries, hygiene products, pet food, chargers, medicines, and more on Monday, Jan. 13, and Tuesday, Jan. 14, from 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at the high school (620 Olive Ave., Long Beach), and 3-7:30 p.m. at the athletic complex (4832 Clark Ave., Long Beach).
