Funeral Mass was held Aug. 10 at St. Bede the Venerable Church in La Ca√±ada for Father Kevin Kester, 63, who died Aug. 6.Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, he graduated from Fermin Lasuen High School and Humboldt State University. He worked as a mathematician in the aerospace industry before enrolling at St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 6, 1981.During his priestly ministry, Father Kester served as associate pastor at St. Cyprian, Long Beach; St. Paul of the Cross, La Mirada; St. Teresa of Avila, Los Angeles; Our Lady of the Assumption, Claremont; Mary Star of the Sea, San Pedro; St. Linus, Norwalk; and St. Bede the Venerable. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.
