Catholics from around the Archdiocese of Los Angeles packed the parish hall at St. Denis Church in Diamond Bar on Saturday, May 25, to celebrate the birthday of Padre Pio, a popular modern-day saint known for his devotion to the faith, particularly to the sacraments of Confession and the Eucharist.

The day included talks on Padre Pio’s extraordinary life and the miracles he performed. Participants also lined up to venerate a fingerless glove relic, which the priest wore to cover one of the bleeding marks of the stigmata. Padre Pio bore the signs of the stigmata in his hands, feet, and side, for 50 years.
