Surrounded by the grand redwood tree planted to honor the Sisters of Saint Frances and commemorate the opening of Marian Hospital in 1967, Marian Regional Medical Center has completed the Ferini-Ardantz Healing Garden and Courtyard in Santa Maria.
Designed to provide a sanctuary for relaxation and reflection, the facility offers water features, meandering pathways and lush foliage to create a therapeutic and calming environment. Colors, plants, stones, scents and water focus on healing in a quiet and uplifting setting for hospital patients, staff and visitors.
This sanctuary was made possible by the donations of Georganne and Milo Ferini, Jeri and Patrick Ferini, and Henri Ardantz, who over the years have supported Marian through leadership, time and resources.
The vision for the Healing Garden and Courtyard originated when Jeanie Ardantz, the late wife of Henri Ardantz, envisioned an area filled with serene paths, water features and garden sculptures. Jeanie knew firsthand the healing power that natural surroundings have on health as she was diagnosed with an inoperable tumor and spent the days of her treatment surrounded by nature, said Charles J. Cova, Marian Regional Medical Center president and CEO.
The completion of the Healing Garden marks the last phase of Marian Regional Medical Center’s expansion project and unifies the campus.
