A kneeler used by the pope, his white zucchetto (head covering), and a selection of other items are also part of the special exhibit, which will run through the end of May. Some of the items, like the vestments and mitre he wore at the Coliseum Mass are being displayed publicly for the first time in nearly 25 years. Because John Paul was beatified May 1, these items are now holy relics. The exhibit, located in a side chapel just inside the cathedral’s Great Bronze Doors, will also feature a selection of photos from the 1987 papal visit.
