Catholic school divers scored well in several divisions of the CIF-Southern Section Diving championships, held May 7 and 8 at the Riverside Aquatics Center.

In girls’ Division 3, Immaculate Heart senior Brighida Rosendahl, who was fourth in 2017, finished second, 10 points behind winner Krystal Irwin of Poly/Pasadena. Louisville freshman Hayden Henderson was fourth, Mayfield junior Julia Kasputis seventh (she was ninth in 2017), and Marymount senior Sydney Dutton 12th.

Brighida Rosendahl’s older sister Olivia, who set the CIF meet record in her 2014 victory, currently is among the country’s top divers, having won individual and synchronized diving titles while attending Northwestern and competing nationally and internationally, including the 2017 NCAA championship in platform diving.

In boys’ Division 1 competition, Santa Margarita junior Nicholas Leavell, the top qualifier entering the finals, finished second with 477.2 points, just behind winner William Raines of Harvard-Westlake. Leavell was seventh in 2017.

In girls’ Division 1, Santa Margarita’s Alexandra Barnes (sophomore) and Londen Christensen (senior) repeated their sixth and seventh place finishes from 2017. Mater Dei sophomore Madelyn Mickey, 15th in 2017, placed tenth.

The CIF-SS swimming championships take place May 9-12 at Riverside, with state championships slated May 19 and 20 in Clovis.
