U.S. Saints

A monument dedicated to Father Joseph Verbis Lafleur is seen outside St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, La., in the Lafayette Diocese. He was a World War II chaplain who gave his life while saving others on a Japanese prison ship. He is a candidate for sainthood and has the title "Servant of God."
