Sister Grace Gianella, formerly known as Sister Susan Angela, died on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Michigan. She was 80 years of age and in the 61st year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.
Sister Grace was born in Jackson, Michigan, to Angelo and Sadie (Morell) Gianella. She graduated from St. John High School in Jackson and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian.
Sister spent 23 years ministering in elementary education in Chicago and Mundelein, Illinois; Los Angeles, California; and Grand Junction, Colorado. She served one year as a pastoral associate and 13 years as a billing accountant technician at St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California. Sister also ministered five years as an administrative secretary at Holy Family School in Grand Junction, Colorado. She became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Michigan, in 2014.
Sister Grace was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Donna Jean. She is survived by her brother, Michael Gianella of Riverside, California, other loving family, friends and her Adrian Dominican Sisters.
