Deacon Douglas “Doug” Moloney died Monday, November 13, 2023, at the age of 95.

Doug was born on June 26, 1928. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1948-50. Doug married his wife Virginia on August 5, 1950. He then went on to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1955-60.

Doug and Virginia were married for 69 years, until Virginia’s passing in 2019. They were blessed with seven children, 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Doug was ordained a deacon in 1994 and served at St. Christopher Church in West Covina until 2017.

Deacon Doug served in bereavement ministry, as a spiritual director, and visited the sick for many years. He also served with his wife as a Journey Couple in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Diaconate Formation Program from 1992–2002.

Rosary, Monday, Dec. 11 at 10 a.m., at St. Christopher Church, 629 S. Glendora Ave., West Covina, CA 91790.

Funeral Mass will be held Monday, Dec. 11, at 11 a.m. at St. Christopher Church. Priests and deacons wishing to attend are invited to vest in an alb and white stole. Deacon Doug will be interred at St. Andrew’s Abbey in Valyermo, CA, at a later date.
