Deacon Bruce Sago died Wednesday, July 22, 2020. Deacon Bruce was ordained for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 2008. His ministry path took him to several different parishes, including a stop in Colorado. Most recently, Bruce served at St. Mary’s Church in Whittier.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Leah, two children, Amber Kennedy, and Brian Sago, and two granddaughters, Mia and Kylie Kennedy.
Before he was a deacon, Bruce completed the police academy and worked for Covina and West Covina PD. After he retired and met his wife Leah, he felt called to the Catholic faith and converted.
Bruce was involved in many ministries, including RCIA and Faith Formation. He founded Neighbors Helping Neighbors, a food pantry in Whittier, and served as chaplain for the Whittier Police Department for many years until his retirement last April.
