Deacon Carlos Magos died Saturday, July 13, 2024.
Carlos was born in Tequisquiapan, Querétaro, Mexico on April 24, 1954 to Carlos Magos and Elpidia Quintanar. Carlos was quickly baptized in La Parroquia de la Asuncion in Tequisquiapan, Mexico. At the age of six, he received his First Communion at La Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de San Juan de Los Lagos in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.
At a young age, Carlos felt a strong attraction to the church. At the age of 12, Carlos initiated his faith studies at El Seminario de Los Misioneros de la Natividad de Maria in Leon, Mexico. Carlos studied at El Seminario de Los Misioneros de la Natividad de Maria for 15 years and completed his master’s degree in theology. Once he graduated, Carlos taught catechism classes with Los Padres Salesianos at different seminaries throughout Guatemala.
While Carlos was teaching in Guatemala, he met his future bride, Maria Magdalena Funes. Carlos and Maria married on June 13, 1992, and immigrated to Los Angeles, California within the year. Carlos was ordained as a Permanent Deacon on June 8, 2002. Carlos and Maria served at Precious Blood Catholic Church, Los Angeles, CA, and at St. Kevin Catholic Church, Los Angeles, CA.
Carlos is survived by his wife Maria Magos, and children Lucia Magos and Cecilia Magos.
Services will be held at St. Kevin Church, 4072 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90004.

Funeral Mass: Friday, July 26, 2024, at 9:00 a.m.
Priests/Deacons wishing to attend are invited to vest in an alb and white stole.
Interment will follow the funeral at 12 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery, 4201 Whittier Blvd., Los Angeles, CA.
