Dr. Patrick J. Mitchell, Professor Emeritus at St. John’s Seminary for 35 years, died unexpectedly on May 23, 2016. Pat was born in Tucson, AZ, he served in the USMC, taught hundreds of priests and clergy, and provided spiritual direction to many people. 

Pat completed his doctorate degree in Religious Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara and worked as a Professor Emeritus at St. John’s Seminary where he taught philosophy and theology for 35 years. He was a founding member of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ Spirituality Commission as well as of the Archdiocesan Justice and Peace Commission.

He is survived by his wife Marie, stepdaughters Aimee and Kristen, daughter Molly, and sisters Kathleen and Harriett.
