Andrew Hoekstra of Mater Dei High School tied for tenth in the individual portion of the CIF State Boys Golf Championship Tournament, played May 30 at San Gabriel Country Club, San Gabriel.
Hoekstra posted a one over par 72 (38-34), four shots behind individual champion Tyler Guo of Crean Lutheran. On May 24, in the CIF/SCGA Southern State Regional Championship at Brookside Golf Club in Pasadena, Hoekstra also scored 72, 7 shots off the lead and tied for eighth which qualified him for the state event.
Servite narrowly missed qualifying for the team portion of the state championships, finishing fourth in the May 24 regionals from which the top three teams advanced. Servite totalled 375, six shots off the lead and two shots out of third, with 74s by Benjamin Hong and Chad Deegan, a 75 by Jack Rahon, and 76s from Alex Hanz and Kyle Kinnane.
