St. Timothy School’s academic decathlon team won first place at the Annual Junior High Academic Decathlon on March 3, paving the way to represent the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in the state competition in San Francisco on April 6, 2019.

The West LA parochial school’s students earned the top honors while competing against about 100 Catholic schools from the counties of Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara.

Their ability to focus, work together and collaborate as a group has been key to their success,” said St. Timothy principal Lena Randle. “They have lifted each other up and truly embody a team spirit. I could not be more proud of them, both as decathletes and as kind and humble people.”

This will be the school’s first time going to the state competition.
