In addition to on-the-field excellence, collegiate athletes are expected to strive for outstanding performance in the classroom — given that most will not be making a career out of pursuing their chosen sport.

At Loyola Marymount University, five men and 11 women who participated in intercollegiate athletics during the 2018-2019 academic year were named to All-West Coast Conference teams in their respective sports, six of them for the second or third time. Another 14 men and 31 women earned Honorable Mention honors.

To be considered for an all-academic squad, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average while also being a significant contributor to his or her team.
