Mater Dei, J.Serra, Notre Dame/Sherman Oaks and Immaculate Heart have reached the quarterfinals of the CIF-Southern Section girls’ tennis playoffs after winning their second round matches Nov. 8.
Three of the four Catholic school quarterfinalists will have their work cut out for them, given that they will be playing No. 1 or 2 seeds in their respective divisions, although they were easy winners in their second round contests. The results:
D-1: Mater Dei beat M.L. King 10-8, and will play Camarillo.
D-2: No. 8 J.Serra beat No. 9 Los Alamitos 13-5, and will play No. 1 South Torrance.
D-3: No. 1 Portola beat Bishop Montgomery 14-4; Notre Dame/Sherman Oaks beat Mayfield 14-4, and will play No. 2 Poly/Riverside.
D-4: No. 5 Whitney beat Flintridge Sacred Heart 10-8.
D-5: Immaculate Heart beat No. 7 Vista del Lago 15-3, and will play No. 1 Segerstrom. Quarterfinals are Nov. 11, semifinals Nov. 13 and finals Nov. 15.
