J.Serra senior Anthony Grover became the fourth runner all-time to win three consecutive State boys’ cross country individual titles when he captured the California Interscholastic Federation Division IV championship Nov. 30 at Woodward Park in Fresno.

Grover finished the three-mile course in 15:03.2, 12 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor and seventh among all competitors in the race. The Lion senior’s win came a week after he won his second CIF-Southern Section Division 4 title in Riverside.

In the boys’ Division IV team competition, Cathedral finished 11th, led by senior Tyriq Granillo and junior Brandon Guerrero. 

The best team finish by a local Catholic school was Loyola’s fourth place in the Division II boys’ race. Senior Anthony Stone was ninth individually for the Cubs, with juniors Arjun Vadgama and Zachary Zambrano 25th and 28 respectively.

St. John Bosco was fifth in the Division III boys’ race, with sophomore Christopher Chavez the best Braves’ finisher in 31st and senior Alex Frias 38th.

In the Division IV girls’ race, Mayfield of Pasadena finished sixth, led by third-place finisher Audrey Suarez, clocked in 17:53.3. The junior, who had won this race the previous two years, was 25th fastest overall.

In the D-III girls’ race, Santa Margarita junior Kendall Saeger was 11th individually.
