The William H. Hannon Foundation has donated a $10,000 grant to St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy (PMA) in Downey. The foundation seeks to improve public and private elementary schools in the greater Los Angeles area.

“I have been very impressed with PMA’s principal Erick Rubalcava and the work he has done to increase the school’s performance,” said the foundation’s president, Kathleen Hannon Aikenhead. “We are glad to join in supporting PMA’s continued growth.”

Erick Rubalcava, principal of the co-ed high school, said the grant means a great deal to PMA faculty and students. The grant “not only provides a financial boost, but also a morale boost, as the foundation is a leader in supporting and manifesting the values of Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.”
