Our Lady of Loretto School celebrated the Santo Ni√±o festival on Jan. 11. The festival featured various dances — including sibli, tinkling and carinosa — as well as talent and fashion shows.

Guest speaker Mitch O'Farrell, Council Member for 13th District, talked about making Los Angeles neighborhoods safe so residents can live in peace and harmony. He also talked about the importance of being helpful to those in need, like the victims of Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines. Both Councilman O’Farrell and Field Deputy Angelo Yenko were honored with a plaque recognizing their support of the school. Our Lady of Loretto School is being allowed us to close a small street between the school and adjacent playground during recess times, ensuring a safe play space for their students. Our Lady of Loretto School was founded in 1911 in what is now Historic Filipinotown.
