Marymount California University in Rancho Palos Verdes is inviting students and parents, faculty and staff, community members and other supporters to the dedication and grand opening of the new Marylyn and Chuck Klaus Center for the Arts at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 5.

The new facility — which houses Marymount’s arts and media programs, with areas for student instruction, exhibitions and faculty offices — is located in the arts district of San Pedro at 430 West Sixth St., two blocks from the university’s Waterfront Campus. Festivities planned for the March 5 celebration include the debut of the student gallery and performances by the Marymount Jazz Ensemble.

The doors will open at 6 p.m. for the grand opening event. March 5 also is “First Thursday” in the San Pedro arts district, when many of the local businesses, restaurants, art galleries and studios stay open late.

Active in the arts and the local community in San Pedro, business owners Marylyn and Chuck Klaus “exemplify…leadership and service [and] believe in our mission and our vision,” at Marymount California University, reported the campus.
