At its founding by the Sisters of Notre Dame in 1964, La Reina High School in Thousand Oaks opened its doors to 27 students. Fifty years later, the school serves 560 students in grades 7-12.

To celebrate its golden anniversary, La Reina — a National Blue Ribbon School — hosted a Mass Sept. 6 with Archbishop Jose Gomez presiding, followed by lunch and an opportunity for many to connect with old friends.

“We are here to help young women know God, to encourage them to know their respective gifts, and to develop their abilities to lead in confidence and with purpose,” said Dr. Michael Bates, Head of School.

“For 50 years, our school, our Sisters of Notre Dame have engaged this work, this calling. We celebrate this work, and we continue this mission to transform this world by the impact of our graduates in the careers, family and relationships they build locally, nationally, globally.”
