The recently founded Children’s Chorus at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels is hosting auditions for children in 4th-9th grade this weekend.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, June 11, and Sunday, June 12, from 1-5 p.m. in the Conference Center at Cathedral Plaza, 555 W. Temple St., Los Angeles.

The Children’s Chorus is the vision of Richard Grant, long-time LA philanthropist and Catholic education advocate. It was established last year with funding from the Dan Murphy Foundation, from which Grant recently retired as president, in honor of Grant and his wife Maria.

“The Children’s Chorus was started as a means to get children more actively involved in music, liturgy, and the life of their local Cathedral,” said director Joseph Bazyouros.

The Children’s Chorus performs at various Masses and events at the Cathedral, and Bazyouros said they have several other opportunities scheduled, including participating in the LA Opera Connects community opera production. The chorus’ first performance was held last year on Christmas Eve.
