This year, Mount Saint Mary’s changes its name from a “college” to “university.” Established in 1925, the university is nationally recognized for its academic programs. Starting with the inaugural Class of 1929, the Mount has awarded more than 18,000 degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Mount Saint Mary’s does not expect enrollment to surpass 5,000, though plans are underway to expand academic offerings as well as to accommodate more students.

The first baccalaureate of science in nursing program in California was established at Mount Saint Mary’s University, graduating its first class in 1952. Today, the university offers associate, bachelors, masters, and certificate programs in nursing.
