On June 18, Thomas Aquinas College in Ventura Country, hosted a seminar for the Ventura Chapter of the Catholic Association of Latino Leaders (CALL), a national organization dedicated to the growth and spiritual formation of the country’s Latino leaders.

Archbishop José H. Gomez is the group’s episcopal moderator, while college graduate, attorney Justin Alvarez (’97) leads the Ventura Chapter.

Following Mass in the college’s chapel with celebrant Jesuit Father Cornelius M. Buckley, attendees met for a 90-minute seminar with another college graduate, Dr. Marco Emerson Hernandez (’97), leading the discussion. The group discussed Pope Francis’ second encyclical, Laudato Si’.

Robert Bagdazian, the college’s assistant director of gift planning, described the seminar as “a wonderful time to seriously discuss and consider” the Holy Father’s encyclical. “We enjoyed a stimulating and thoughtful conversation about the importance of being good stewards of the earth and of man’s place as the focal point of creation.”
rnThe seminar’s discussion continued over a buffet lunch, followed by a tour of the campus.
