Twenty men and women were commissioned to the ministry of Altar Server during the 9 a.m. Mass at St. Bernard’s Parish on March 8.
The servers had been through several weeks of training in the prayers and responses of the Mass, in addition to learning the Mass’ structure and the liturgical meaning behind different terms, seasons and colors.
“We know how hard it is sometimes to live up to the call we received at baptism,” Hank Cierpich, altar server coordinator for St. Bernard’s Parish, said of the event. “That is why on Sunday, we will celebrate and send forth these young men and women among us who have been generous with their time and the gifts God has given them.”
