On Saturday, June 8, Archbishop José H. Gomez ordained 11 new permanent deacons for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

“From the beginning of the Church, our Lord has set apart some men for a sacred ministry,” Archbishop Gomez told them in his homily. “But the ministry of the deacon is so much more than a job title. Today, by divine institution, you are given a new identity.”

With friends and family at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels he welcomed Nestor and Winnie Aclan, Alex and Carmen Aguilar, Jesús and Erica Bravo, Ray and Connie Gallego, Jorge and Lucy Madrigal, Chuck and Linda McDaniels, George and Tricia Mora, Mark and Louise Ramirez, Mike and Mary Rutz, Rubén and Janet Sainz, Denise and Reed Wilcox, who have completed five years of theological formation, to their new “noble and sacred calling.”
