Newly released drone footage captured what organizers called a “special day” for St. Turibius School near downtown LA.

The school’s new “Saints and Warriors” basketball court designed by local artist Lilian Martinez was unveiled at an Oct. 26 “Halloween Costume Inauguration Party.” The event, which featured a dunk show, kids clinic, and an “All-Star” basketball game, was hosted by organizations Project Backboard, Find Your Grind and Venice Ball.

"Footage like this does an amazing job capturing the unique story and footprint of St. Turibius, a Catholic STEM school in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, surrounded by factories and homeless encampments,” said Leslie De Leonardis, director of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ STEM network.

“The school is overcoming obstacles every day by breaking and closing our achievement and opportunity gaps.”
