Judith R. McDonald has been named the new chair of Mount St. Mary’s College’s Board of Trustees effective July 1, succeeding Michael A. Enright. McDonald is a founding board member and a member of the advisory committee of Young & Healthy, a nonprofit organization that provides free health care to uninsured children in the greater Pasadena area. She served for three years as president of Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women and Children, Los Angeles, and is a past president of Mothers’ Club Family Learning Center in Pasadena.Additionally, four new members were named to the governing board during the 2012-13 year:—Shireen Fatemi, an assistant area medical director for Southern California Medical Group.—Susan Georgino, principal of Georgino Development and an adjunct professor of organizational leadership at Woodbury University. —Gabriel A. Gutierrez, retired Los Angeles Superior Court Judge who served with the Los Angeles County courts for more than 20 years. —Cambria Smith, parish life director for Holy Family Church in South Pasadena. Astin trustee emerita.Concert at Colburn School to support MS research“A Tribute to Lupe Luevano,” a concert benefit and silent auction to support multiple sclerosis research, will be held July 14, 4 p.m. at The Colburn School, Los Angeles.Performing will be Jaclyn Bermudez (soprano), a graduate of Holy Family School in South Pasadena and currently a professional opera singer in Germany, as well as Scott England (tenor) and accompanist Douglas Sumi (LA Opera). The Sunset Jazz Band will perform at the reception and silent auction following the concert.Bermudez, who sang a benefit concert in 2010 for Homeboy Industries, is the niece of Lupe Luevano, who died recently after having been afflicted by MS for more than 35 years.“We want to do this in her name as a tribute to her and her courageous spirit,” said Maria Hall, Luevano’s sister and Bermudez’ mother. All proceeds will go to USC MS Comprehensive Care Center and Research Group at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.The concert will take place at the Colburn School’s Zipper Hall, 200 S.
