The Pepperdine Waves overpowered Loyola Marymount University women’s volleyball team Nov. 8 in Malibu, winning in straight sets 25-7, 25-13, 25-18, to leave the Lions 13-12 overall and 7-6 in the West Coast Conference.

In the first two sets, LMU could manage only a single tie (early in set one), before finally catching fire in the final set (12 ties, three lead changes). But the Waves were too strong and won going away as former Mater Dei HS star Shannon Scully posted six kills and eight digs for Pepperdine.

Sierra Bartley’s seven kills were tops for the Lions, as were Tess Reid’s 20 assists and Ella Boehle’s 11 digs. LMU play its final home matches Nov. 14 and 16 against Pacific and St. Mary’s at Gersten Pavilion, then plays its last three regular season matches on the road.
