The Cabrini Literary Guild recently celebrated young writing talents from LA Archdiocese Catholic high schools at their annual Writing Awards luncheon at the Oakmont Country Club.

Father John O’Brien, a Loyola High School alumni and associate pastor at Church of the Incarnation in Glendale, graced the stage as the event keynote speaker. He encouraged the winners to “heed God’s words, and be open to the surprises God has in store for us.”

Abigail Merkel of Bishop Alemany High School took home first place, while Kira Toal of Immaculate High School earned second and Grace Fontes of Mayfield Senior School placed third. All three winners were awarded scholarships from the Literary Guild.
