The CIF released the volleyball playoff pairings Nov. 7, and there are many archdiocesan schools invited.
Leading the way in Division 1AA are the Mission League teams: Marymount, Flintridge Sacred Heart, and Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks).
> Marymount ended the season as Mission League champions in their first year in the league. They beat Flintridge Sacred Heart, the defending champions, twice.
They enter the tournament as the No. 4 overall seed, and played Newport Harbor (14-13 overall) Nov. 11.
> Flintridge Sacred Heart will be playing Palos Verdes (10-19 overall), and Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) will take on Mira Costa (25-7 overall) on Tuesday.
> The Del Rey League looks to make a splash, fielding four teams: Bishop Montgomery, La Salle, Gardena Serra, and St. Joseph.
> Bishop Montgomery enters the playoffs on a roll, finishing undefeated in league play.
They take on Peninsula (9-7 overall). This should be an easy matchup, as Peninsula enters as an at-large team who has not won a league matchup this season.
> La Salle, after a disappointing start to the season, enters the playoffs as the two-time reigning CIF-Southern Section champions.
La Salle draws a matchup against Los Alamitos (18-13 overall).
> Gardena Serra takes on Corona Del Mar (22-5 overall).
> St. Joseph draws an at-large bid, taking on Redondo Union (28-2 overall). This will be a big task for St. Joseph, as Redondo Union is the No. 1 ranked team in D1AA.
> St. Lucy’s enters the tournament as the only archdiocesan school in Division 1A SS Championships.
They will take on El Toro of Lake Forest (17-7 overall).
> Mayfield is also the only diocesan team in their respective championship, finishing with a record of 18-7. They take on Mission College Prep (15-11 overall).
> Louisville enters as the No. 1 seed in their division’s tournament. They will take on Glendale (12-11).
> Alemany and Chaminade come into the tournament as well, taking on Pacifica (18-7-1) and Oxnard (15-9), respectively.
