Archbishop José H. Gomez celebrated the Jubilee Year Opening Mass on Sept. 11, to launch the “Forward in Mission” Jubilee Year at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. The Jubilee Year, from September 11, 2021 through September 10, 2022, commemorates 250 years of Catholic faith in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The Mass began outdoors on the Cathedral Plaza with the Rite of the Opening of the Holy Door led by Archbishop Gomez. Faithful in attendance gathered on the Plaza then processed through the Holy Door into the Cathedral for Mass. Those in attendance also received a commemorative Jubilee Year rosary.
