Sister Suzanne Schuman, OP, died March 23, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Manor, Footville, Wis. The funeral Mass was held at the Dominican motherhouse, Sinsinawa, April 2, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.

Sister Suzanne made her first profession as a Dominican Sister of Sinsinawa on Feb. 3, 1950, and her perpetual profession Aug. 5, 1953. She taught for 59 years and served as principal for 18 of those years. She was a warm, friendly and kind woman. Many would say about her, “She was ‘Sister Hospitality.’ ” She served in Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Alabama, California, Iowa, and Illinois.

In the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Sister Suzanne was principal and taught at All Saints, Los Angeles, 1972-1980.

Sister Suzanne was born Nov. 30, 1929, in Chicago, the daughter of Ernest and Marie (Witowski) Schuman. Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by two sisters, Marian Mullen and Fran Clausius; nieces; nephews; and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared 71 years of religious life.
