Deacon Dan Wallace died Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the age of 74.
Deacon Dan was born on May 28, 1949, in Pacoima, California. He served our country as a reserve in the US Marine Corps and worked for Boeing Aircraft Company. Deacon Dan and his wife Laurie were married on April 24, 1993, and they had just celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. Deacon Dan and Laurie were blessed with 3 children, and 2 grandchildren. Deacon Dan was in the 2006 Ordination Class and was assigned to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Church, Lomita, where he has served since his ordination. Following his retirement from Boeing, Deacon Dan also served as a parish administrator at St. Margaret Mary, and was instrumental in the bereavement and marriage annulment ministries.
Laurie said that she and Deacon Dan had experienced “a lifetime of great moments.” She also said that her husband “was a lighthouse to people that brought them home,” and that “the finish line of his life was cut with silver scissors.”
A Mass of Resurrection will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 6:00 p.m., at St Margaret Mary Alacoque Church, 25511 Eshelman St., Lomita, Ca 90707. Deacons are invited to vest in alb and white stole and process in with their wives. Reception immediately following in the parish hall. As a tribute to Dan, guests are encouraged to wear Hawaiian shirts.
