Funeral Mass was celebrated June 29 at St. Isidore the Farmer - Holy Cross Church in Mount Calvary, Wisconsin for Father Daniel “Bernard” Kabat, OFM, Cap., a Capuchin friar and priest, who died June 25 at the age of 81.

Father Kabat was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was invested in the Capuchin order in 1952, professed his perpetual vows in 1956, and was ordained a priest in 1960. During his many years of ministry, he served as a missionary in Nicaragua from 1962-1981, as assistant novice director from 1982-1984, and was a church pastor in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1986. He was later transferred to Solvang, California, where he ministered with Capuchins until he retired in 2011.

Father Kabat is survived by one brother, Lee Kabat of Waupaca, Wisconsin, and his many Capuchin brothers with whom he lived, prayed and ministered for 63 years.
