ThernNotre Dame/Sherman Oaks baseball and Santa Clara softball teams held the No. 1rnpositions in their respective divisions of latest CIF-Southern Section Divisionrn7 softball rankings released March 19.
NotrernDame, second last week, leading the Division 1 poll, was ranked thirdrnnationally in Maxpreps’ “Xcellent 25” poll,” and was 8-0 heading into its Marchrn19 game against Loyola, which was fourth in this week’s D-2 rankings. Alsornranked in D-1 was Servite (up from fifth to second), while Mary Star climbedrnfrom sixth to fourth in D-5.
SantarnClara leads the Division 7 softball poll, followed by St. Mary’s Academy (up tornthird from fourth) and Marymount (rising from tenth to eighth). Other Catholicrnschools ranked in softball include Mater Dei, down from third to fourth in D-1;rnNotre Dame/SO, tenth in D-4; and La Reina, still fourth, and Chaminade, stillrnsixth, in D-5.
Boys’rnvolleyball: Loyola rose from sixth to third, Servite moved into eighth, andrnAlemany is still ninth in D-1; St. John Bosco climbed from tenth to seventh inrnD-2; Damien is still sixth in D-3; and in D-4, La Salle rose from third tornsecond, Providence/Burbank jumped from eighth to fourth, St. Monica dipped fromrnfifth to sixth, and St. Anthony remains seventh.
Boys’rntennis: Crespi is sixth in D-3, the only Catholic school among the fiverndivisions.
