Loyola and Cathedral of Los Angeles, and SantarnClara of Oxnard, have advanced to the quarterfinals of the CIF-Southern Sectionrnboys’ soccer tournament after winning second round matches Feb. 21.

InrnDivision 1, Loyola plays Downey, and Cathedral takes on Redlands East Valley inrnthe Feb. 24 quarterfinals, while Santa Clara (defending Division 7 champion)rnplays Webb in a Division 6 match. Semifinals are Feb. 27, and championshiprnmatches March 2-3.

FourrnCatholic school teams are among the quarterfinalists in the girls’ playoffs,rnafter winning second round matches Feb. 20, including defending champion SanrnGabriel Mission in Division 6. The Pioneers (24-1-2 and No. 1 in D-6 most ofrnthe season) will take on Academy for Academic Excellence of Apple Valleyrn(14-1-3) in the Feb. 23 quarters.

Also reaching the roundrnof eight were Orange County powers J.Serra and Santa Margarita in Division 1.rnThe Lions (19-1-1) will play Santiago of Corona (22-1-6); the Eagles (12-3-3)rnmeet Los Osos (16-6-2).

And St. Bernard (11-5-4)rnplays Azusa (11-9-2) in a Division 7 quarterfinal. Semifinals are Feb. 27, andrnchampionship matches March 2-3.
