After a 1-2 weekend in Houston, the Loyola Marymount University women's volleyball team (3-3) travels to the Midwest for the Nebraska Tournament Sept. 13 and 14.

At the Rice University Tournament Sept. 6 and 7, the Lions lost a pair of four-set matches to the host school, sandwiched around a victory over Abilene Christian. In winning the latter contest 25-13, 25-23, 25-23, LMU was led by Sierra Bartley (14 kills), Tess Reid (40 assists) and Mary Shroll (14 digs).

Against Rice, the Lions won the first set in each match, struggled in the second, then played well but fell short in the third and fourth sets. The scores: 21-25, 25-13, 25-21, 2-23 on Sept. 6, and 22-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-23 on Sept. 7, with Reid totaling 74 assists in the two matches, Shroll 32 digs and Rose Booth 30 kills.

Hosted by the University of Nebraska (who the Lions play Sept. 14), this weekend’s Tournament in Lincoln also includes the University of Denver and High Point University, both of whom LMU plays on Sept. 13.

The Lions then travel to Indianapolis for the Butler Tournament Sept. 20 and 21, before starting West Coast Conference play Sept. 26 at home against Santa Clara.
